The Equal Opportunities Commission (EOC) is a statutory body charged with the mandate to eliminate discrimination on the grounds of sex, marital status, pregnancy, breastfeeding, disability, family status and race, as well as to eliminate sexual harassment, breastfeeding harassment, and harassment and vilification on the grounds of disability and race. Senior Information Technology Officer

We are now inviting applications for the following position in our Corporate Planning and Services Division:

The Duties
  • To develop and write computer programmes  
  • To set up, configure and test networks and assist in network administration
  • To debug and troubleshoot system and programme errors 
  • To maintain and operate the respective content management systems of the EOC’s website and Intranet
  • To provide support to IT-related projects in the development, testing, implementation, configuration, deployment and support of systems
  • To help set up hardware or software, diagnose connectivity or data access problems, resolve support issues, and provide training to end users
  • To undertake any other duties and ad-hoc support assigned

The Person

  • University graduate in Computer Science, Computer engineering or a relevant field; a professional/industry certification will be an advantage
  • At least five years’ relevant experience in computer programming, system/software development, network management, database administration or technical support
  • Proficient in programming languages such as ASP, ASP.NET, PHP; knowledge of MySQL, MSSQL, Oracle, MS Windows server, Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator
  • Expert level in Microsoft Office Applications, good knowledge of Project preferred
  • Familiar with the latest technology applications in an office environment; having an aptitude for learning new technologies
  • Strong analytical and diagnostic skills. Proactive problem solver
  • Effective writing and verbal communication skills
  • Attention to details and work well in a collaborative setting
  • Effective time management and multi-tasking skills
  • General awareness of issues relating to discrimination and equal opportunities; and committed to the EOC's vision and mission
[Appointment will be on three-year agreement terms renewable depending on service needs and performance.  The remuneration package will consist of a basic salary and a cash allowance in accordance with the Commission’s policy.  The salary to be offered to the selected candidate will be commensurate with his/her relevant qualifications and experience.  The appointee will also be eligible for a gratuity on completion of the agreement subject to satisfactory performance and conduct. ]
